About the Medal

Established in 2007, the Fred V. Morrone Memorial Medal is awarded for the furtherance of public safety. It is conferred in conjunction with the INTERPORTPOLICE and the Morrone 9/11 Center for Counterterrorism and Security.

This medal honors the legacy of Fred V. Morrone — Superintendent of Police and Director of Public Safety, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey — who perished at the World Trade Towers on September 11, 2001.
